Video: Starkville Residents Come Together to Support Vandalized Church
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) –Starkville residents say it’s time to heal after a church sign is vandalized.
Someone carved the letters “KKK” on this church billboard at Victory Center.
Bishop Michael Boyd, the church’s pastor, says once the story aired on WCBI support from the community started pouring in.
A “Go-Fund-Me” account was started online, and as of Wednesday afternoon $395.00 had been raised to replace the sign.
“If people don’t stand up during a difficult time, then other people’s behavior will be allowed to run rampant, so I’m just really impressed with how the community is rejecting this type of behavior.”
Boyd plans to meet with a reconciliation group at his church this Sunday to show unity.
The Starkville Police Department is still investigating the incident.
