Breaking: Arrest Made In Shooting Death Of Columbus Mayor’s Son

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – An arrest is made in the homicide of Columbus Mayor Robert Smith’s son.

Davius Roshard Smith, 20, was booked in the Lowndes County Jail, just after 11 AM on Friday, and charged with murder.

Robert Smith Jr. was shot at his Columbus home on Wednesday afternoon.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Smith died a short time later from his injuries at Baptist Golden Triangle in Columbus.

Reports say the 39 year-old was shot in the abdomen.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation arrested Davius Smith.

His bond has not been set.

Davius Smith and Robert Smith Jr. both lived at the same address, 169 Temple Cove, and where the shooting occured.

Investigators have not released any information about what led to the gunfire.
