CARROLLTON, AL. (WCBI) – A former Carrollton, Alabama city councilman will spend the rest of his life in jail on child sex crimes.

Tim Strickland was convicted by a jury on two counts of sodomy in the first degree, three counts of sexual abuse of a child, and one count of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

The sodomy charge was enhanced because the victim was under the age six, requiring a mandatory life sentence for both counts.

Strickland will be sentenced on the other four charges on January 10th.

He was originally indicted on nine total charges.

District Attorney Chris McCool says the trial started last Tuesday.

Jurors returned the verdict on Monday.
