Video: Monroe County Streamlining Tax Collection Services

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) –Paying taxes is not at the top of the list of things people enjoy but its getting easier for Amory and Aberdeen residents.

Both towns have signed agreements to let the Monroe County Tax Collectors office handle tax collections for both cities. Tax Collector Pat Birkholz says the biggest change is the fact residents will only receive one bill in the mail that covers both city and county taxes.

“You will no longer have to pay your city taxes at your Amory or Aberdeen City Hall. You will now make one payment at the county Tax Collector’s office. We hope this will simplify things quite a bit for all the residents of Monroe County with one payment at one location.”

Another added plus to the new plan: residents can pay the taxes online by going to www.monroems.com
