Jeff Sessions Selected As Attorney General Nominee

(WCBI)—If Alabama U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions is appointed at the next attorney general, questions remain about who might fill his current job.

The longtime Senator was selected by President-elect Donald Trump to be the attorney general nominee.

If approved, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley will name someone to fill Sessions’ seat until an election can be held.

The winner of the election will fill the remainder of the Sessions’ term. It is not know whether that election would be held in 2017 or 2018.

State law about filling Senate vacancies doesn’t specify a time frame.
