CPD Releases Statement Regarding Report That Columbus Shootings Are Connected
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police respond to a story WCBI first confirmed with CPD on Thursday.
Chief Oscar Lewis released this statement on Friday: “CPD has not officially announced the two shooting case are related. At this time both cases are still under investigation.”
A spokesman confirmed to WCBI on Thursday that investigators believed the shooting of a man on Waterworks Road on October 20th was connected to the homicide of Charles Moody Jr., 23, through revenge.
Christopher Rice, 26, was charged with aggravated assault in the Waterworks Road shooting.
No one has been arrested in connection with the September 19th shooting death of Moody.
CPD did not say our report was inaccurate in its statement.
