STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Sunday afternoon members of Starkville’s Peter’s Rock Church went the distance in support.
They were part of the National Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The non-competitive walk is meant to raise both awareness and money for breast cancer treatment. Breast Cancer survivor Linda Young says not only could she see the support on Sunday but feel it too.
“We just want to shout it out to the community. One of of five women is diagnosed with Breast Cancer. And, Breast Cancer is not just a woman’s disease but it’s also related to men as well,” says Young.
Young’s Breast Cancer has been in remission for the last two years. Behind only skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the US among women.
