Video: Firefighters Find Intense Heat Nearly as Dangerous as Fire

WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) -When the SuperValu Grocery Store in Winona went up in flames, the most difficult task was battling the fire in the heat.

Winona Fire Department received assistance from the county, as well as fire departments from Mathiston, Tomnolen, Elliot, and Greenwood.

The humidity took its toll on the first responders.

“I was told last night that Medstat Ambulance Service, which is our provider said they gave 50 bags of IV fluids to all the firemen here.”

This is a time of year when firemen can become easily dehydrated and extra precautions are taken.
