Video: Monroe County Kids get an Inside Look at the World of Law Enforcement

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) -Youth in Monroe County who want to get an inside look at the life of law enforcement are getting a rare opportunity this week.
The Sheriff’s Department is hosting it Summer Youth Mentor program. During the program, 10 to 18-year-olds see first-hand what deputies and investigators do every day.
Throughout the week, they’ll presentations from an FBI agent, a canine officer, investigators, and narcotics agents.
They’ll also take a tour of the Detention Center.
“It was originally started for people that wanted to be in law enforcement, and it’s sort of spread from there.”
“We want to make our citizens involved and also our children involved. That’s why we have this program, and it helps them become better citizens and it lets them know exactly what goes on at the jail.”
The sheriff and camp organizers also hope the campers realize how poor choices and bad behavior can lead to negative consequences.
