Video: City Of Columbus Responds To WCBI’s FOIA Request Regarding Rep. Karriem
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The city of Columbus has responded to WCBI’s Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request in regards to the October 10, 2016 arrest of Mississippi state representative Kabir Karriem.
In addition to releasing this information, the city also made this statement (bolding for emphasis ours): “The City of Columbus released the following documents today in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from three separate news agencies. The City of Columbus will have no comment regarding this matter and is complying with state law in this release.”
In the documents below, the victim’s name has been redacted, but appears to be an adult daughter of Rep. Karriem.
The documents include the report of the officer who took the victim’s statement, the same officer’s incident report, the formal arrest records of Mr. Karriem, and the statement regarding a conversation Assistant Police Chief Fred Shelton had with Mr. Karriem the night of the incident.
