JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) -With the shooter targeting Armed Forces Recruiters, many have wondered if that will lead to tighter security at recruiting stations.
On Friday, the Mississippi National Guard issued a statement on the shooting saying it remains committed to keeping our servicemen and women safe.
“Our thought and prayers are with the families and friends of the fallen Marines from yesterdays incident in Chattanooga. The Mississippi National Guard continues to maintain security at our facilities throughout the Magnolia State. We’re committed to protecting our soldiers, airmen, and civilian employees and will continue to employ measures to keep them safe.”
The Army’s Chief of Staff General Ray Odierno says there are no plans to arm service members at recruiting stations, saying there are legal issues involved.
