LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -Helping Hands and the United Way of Lowndes county are teaming up to help those in need stay cool this Summer.
The ninth Annual Fan Drive is underway, and with the recent hot weather, the fans are in high demand. Over 100 fans have been donated and distributed so far this summer. And more are needed. Both agencies will continue to take donations of new, unopened fans as long as the weather remains hot, and there is a need.
“So many of our families come in and they just really need any little help they can get, and, you know, a 15 dollar fan makes a whole lot of difference to some of these families.”
“It’s hot out here and an extra fan will come in handy, and being able to come up here and get a fan from these guys is lovely, it’s lovely, and cooler.”
If you would like to donate a fan, or if you need one, you can contact the United Way in Columbus.
