Video: Man Who Led Police On Multi-County Chase Has Bond Hearing Set

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The man who led police on a chase through two counties this week will make his first court appearance today.

John Newell

54-year-old John Newell was pulled over by Tupelo Police around 8:00 Monday morning.

Officers say Newell didn’t have ID on him, and when they went to call it in, Newell sped off.

The chase went through Lee County, into Itawamba County, and circled back into Lee…

Newell crashed when he hit spike strips placed by Sheriff’s deputies.

Newell will make in appearance in Lee County Justice Court today for a bond hearing at 2:30 pm.

He’s charged with felony fleeing.

Newell was arrested two years ago in Tupelo for the same crime.
