Video: Columbus Post Office Suspicious Package Investigated, No Threat
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It may just be a bag, but Columbus law enforcement took no chances on Tuesday morning.
A black duffle bag was spotted just outside the Main Street Post Office about 10 AM.
A resident passing by called it in to police.
Columbus police officers, fire fighters and even paramedics were called to the scene.
Investigators, along with the post master did not identify the bag as a credible threat.
It is now classified as abandoned property.
The downtown post office remained open during the investigation.
Columbus police later said the Mississippi Highway Patrol brought in a bomb sniffing dog to investigate.
CPD reports clothes were found inside the bag.
