MACON, Miss (WCBI Sports) – Central Academy is coming off its best season in quite some time.
The Vikings went 6-2 this past season, including a 2-2 mark in their region. The team will look to build off that success with new head coach Michael Dawkins.
“The running game was unreal,” Dawkins said of the 2014 ground game.
Dawkins is a Central Academy graduate and has been helping out with the football team the past two years. He’s also been the head boys basketball coach at the school.
The Vikings say goodbye to seniors at three key positions: quarterback, running back and fullback. “We’ll be green at first in those positions,” Dawkins said. “But we should have a good season.”
The school hopes 2014 can provide momentum for this fall. “A taste of winning is in their mouths,” Dawkins said. He added that the team is aiming for a deep playoff run this season.
