VIDEO: CAFB kicks off National Fire Prevention Week
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-
Columbus Air Force Base firefighters were busy Saturday morning, not fighting fires or responding to emergencies, but instead raising awareness about fire safety and preparedness to local kids.
The fun began with an early morning parade. The parade led to the base’s fire station, where an open house was held.
Children from the base were taught fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms.
Kids could also tour the station and its’ fire trucks, spray a fire hose, and try on a fireman’s uniform.
The parade and open house officially kicked off National Fire Prevention week, which is held annually in October.
