ICC Basketball Begins New Era Under Pate
FULTON, Miss (WCBI/LetsGoICC.com) —Eleven home dates along with numerous new faces on the rosters and sidelines highlight the 2012-13 Itawamba Community College basketball schedule and team rosters that were released on Tuesday.
The Indians will be under the direction of first-year head coach Grant Pate and will return three starters and one reserve from last year’s squad that qualified for the MACJC State tournament.
“We are working on getting the guys use to the style and speed we want to play,” said Pate. “We are going to have to lean on the experience of our sophomores to help guide our freshman along until they get accustom to this level of play.”
Guards Quintin Lee (Ripley, TN) and Deontaye Ewing (Tupelo) along with center Tre’ Wells (Tuscaloosa, AL) are the returning starters while Parris Jeans (Mooreville) is the lone returning reserve. Lee averaged 10 points per game during his freshman season, Ewing was the third leading scorer with 13.3 points per game and Wells averaged 6.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
ICC will open the season with back-to-back home games against Shelton State Community College (Nov 5) and East Central Community College (Nov 8) before going out of state to Alabama to take on Lawson State Community College (Nov 10) and then to Arkansas to face Arkansas Baptist College (Nov 13) before opening MACJC North play when the programs play hosts to Northeast Mississippi Community College (Nov 29).
