Attempted Home Invasion Goes Badly for Suspect

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Authorities say one man was shot and two are on the run after they tried to break into a Lee County home Wednesday evening.

Sheriff Jim Johnson says it was around 5:15 P.M. when two to three Black males went to a house on County Road 1534.

One of the suspects kicked in a door. The tenant fired one round, hitting the suspect in the chest.

He was taken to NMMC with life threatening injuries.

Meantime, authorities say the suspects fled in a purple, or blue Cadillac, four door,with large wheels.

Sheriff Johnson says more details should be available Thursday.
