Suspects In Randolph Postal Robbery Identified

RANDOLPH ( WCBI) – Federal Court records are detailing what led up to the robbery and shooting at the Randolph Post Office.   A criminal complaint filed Wednesday afternoon identifies a former Randolph resident as an accomplice in the shooting.  Angela Roy , who lived in Pontotoc County in 2011, is suspected of being an accomplice in helping Richard Scott of Wilmer Alabama in the holdup.  The federal court says Scott and Roy now live together in Wilmer and worked their way towards her former hometown.  The pair are accused of stealing a purse from a car in Nettleton on September 22 which is the night before the post office robbery.  The day of the robbery, Roy allegedly called the post office asking what time it opened.  A few minutes later a suspect later identified as Scott robbed the post office and shot the relief postmaster.

Federal authorities then used cell phones to hone in on the pair.  The pair first traveled to Grand Junction, Tennessee right after the robbery before heading to a state park in Mobile County Alabama. Rangers there were able to confirm Scott and Roy had stayed in the park campground for two nights.

The pair were finally located after a license plate reader identified the car they were thought to be in and authorities followed it to an apartment complex in Lockport, Louisiana.  Surveillance teams waited and captured Scott first and then located Roy inside an apartment.   During the arrest. agents recovered jewelry which had been taken during a car burglary in Pontotoc.

Official charges against the two have not been released,
