TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Donations are needed for a project renovating the home of a wounded Marine who has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for others who have served this country.
For about a month now, volunteers have been working to renovate Scott Burns’ Tupelo home to make it handicapped accessible.
Burns lost part of his leg due to a service related injury and “Purple Heart Homes” is in the process of raising money for materials to renovate the veteran’s home.
Recently, several other problem areas were discovered as crews were tearing out some rotted wood. Organizers estimate about $10,000 dollars will be needed for the project.
“This is something everyone can do something. To whatever level that fits our own budget, we can give, contribute or volunteer our time so this is a great organization, helps those who have done so much for our entire country,” said Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton.
