Video: Search On For Suspects In Shooting, Robbery At Pontotoc County Post Office
RANDOLPH, MISS. ( WCBI) – As crime scene tape ringed the parking lot, investigators from the FBI, MBI, and sheriff’s office were looking for any evidence inside the Randolph Post Office. Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask says 9 1 1 received a call around 1045 about shots fired at the small post office, right off of Highway 9.
“When we arrived on the scene, talked to the victim, she said the subject jumped the counter and shot her, that’s basically all we know at this point right now,” said Sheriff Mask.
The female postmaster was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm and released a short time later from the hospital. Sheriff Mask could not say whether anything was taken during the armed robbery, but he did say authorities were looking for two suspects, a man and a woman.
A postal inspector from Jackson was also on the scene and says those responsible for the shooting and robbery will be brought to justice.
“The postal inspection service takes all crimes against the postal service serious and we’re offering a 25 thousand dollar reward for arrest and conviction and any information leading to robbery that occurred at Randolph Mississippi,” said U.S. Postal Inspector Robert Kay.
There are no surveillance cameras at the Randolph post office, but authorities are hopeful the reward will prompt someone to come forward with key information.
Sheriff Mask says there were no customers inside the post office at the time of the shooting .
