Update: South Lamar Stomach Illness Continues
MILLPORT, Ala. (WCBI) – An apparent stomach bug continues to plague a Lamar County school, with nearly 400 students out of class Thursday.
Lamar County Schools Superintendent Garth Moss says that number may not be representative of how many kids are actually sick.
Administrators are giving parents the option to keep their kids home today, with an excused absence, because of the illness.
Crews were brought in Wednesday night to clean the entire school and all buses.
All faculty are on campus Thursday.
A state environmental specialist was at the school Thursday morning testing food samples and taking swabs of areas around the school.
Those tests could be complete by the afternoon.
On Wednesday there were about 140 kids absent from the school.
