LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) -The community comes together in Louisville to help a recent college graduate battling a rare cancer. This past March, 23-year-old Brock Ward was in his senior season of baseball at the University of West Alabama when he discovered a large mass on his chest.
Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with a rare skin cancer.
Family and friends held a bake sale and a benefit for him at the Winston County Courthouse today to raise money to help with rising medical expenses
“He will be doing chemo for five days straight and he’ll have two days off the he’ll go another five days with two days off and then he’ll have a week off and he’s going to be doing that for about twenty-eight weeks and we’re doing this to try and raise money and help pay for all that and just pay for the expenses of things.”
Ward is currently in in the hospital and recently completed his first round of chemotherapy treatments.
