Video: The Wildflower Project

WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) – The reason behind the Wildflower Project is to make the city of Winona more beautiful.

Mississippi Senator Lydia Chassaniol of Winona, and Keep Mississippi Beautiful came up with the plan to plant the flowers.

The wildflowers will be planted out at the median by Exxon, going west over Interstate 55 to the Pilot Truck Stop.

“The state will maintain everything out there. They agreed to do that. It’s been done in other cities, and I think it will look really pretty out there for us,” says Mayor Jerry Flowers of Winona.

The project will not cost the city of Winona any money.

The flowers are expected to pop up a year from now.
