Video: ICC Football Eager to Live Up to No. 11 Ranking

FULTON, Miss. (WCBI/LetsGoICC.com) – The ICC football team jumped from unranked to No. 11 in the new National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Top 20 poll after opening the season with a 23-12 victory over then No. 4 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

The No. 11 ranking is the highest national ranking for the Indians since they were ranked No. 4 on October 1, 2013.

The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) has six teams ranked in the poll.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College (1-0) moved up to No. 4, Northwest Mississippi Community College (1-0) took over the No. 6 spot, East Mississippi Community College (0-1) dropped from No. 1 to No. 12, Jones County Junior College (1-0) jumped up to No. 15 after being unranked in the preseason poll, and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (0-1) slid to the No. 17 position.

Trinity Valley (TX) edged out Snow (UT) for the new top spot in the country.

ICC also entered the JCGridiron.com Dirty 30 at No. 20 this week.

The Indians will travel to Raymond to take on Hinds Community College at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Eagles (0-1) were ranked 19th in the NJCAA preseason poll before falling to Northwest, 40-17, to open the season.
