Aliceville, AL Will Soon Have First Woman, African-American Mayor

ALICEVILLE, Ala. (WCBI) – Aliceville, Alabama will soon have its first African-American and first female mayor.

Marva Gipson currently serves as the District 3 representative on the town council.

Gipson was facing Edgar Pruitt in a runoff.

However, town officials say Pruitt dropped out of the race this past Friday.

Gipson will be given a certificate of election tonight.

She will take the oath of office in November.
