WEST POINT, Miss.(WCBI)—Plum Creek Environmental technology is relocating. In an announcement today,

the recycling equipment manufacturer, originally based in Columbus, is officially welcomed to West Point.

West Point Community leaders and residents are looking forward to; Job growth,

investment opportunity and economic development as Plum Creek prepares to move into it’s new home.

The excitement can be felt across Clay County as construction continues on the new Plum Creek Environmental Technologies facility.

Link CEO Joe Max Higgins says,”There an existing company that’s been in the golden triangle for a few years. They are moving into an existing building here in West Point. They’ve been operating in the back of a building in Columbus or the past several years and we’re glad to have them in west point.”

Plum Creek President Jim Wamble says this move couldn’t have come at a better time.

“We had no more room in our building. We could not fit anymore people in. We have uh more demand then we can put out right now for our products and so we had to do something. And so we found the perfect building,”says Wamble.

And with such a high demand, the company is creating 50 news jobs to keep up the supply.

Clay County Supervisor R.B. Davis says,”We’d love to have 10 jobs, 5 jobs, 50 jobs, 500 jobs; whatever. We’re just looking forward to a working relationship with our new partners in business; in clay county and west point.”

The arrival of the new company is not just beneficial to the city but other local companies as well.

Higgins says,”They use S.D.I STEEL for their product. S.D.I makes the steel it then goes to Mississippi steel processing where it’s cut. Then people who are local like GoBox and other people around the south are buying their products so I can tell you right now there’s three companies that are being touched in the golden triangle as a result of this company being here.”
Plum Creek Environmental Technologies has begun the hiring process. The company is giving the 43 current employees the opportunity to continue working.
They plan to be in the building before the end of the year.
