VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – Lamar County, Alabama deputies are searching for an escaped inmate, who was in jail charged with child sex crimes.

Jerry Duncan, 42, is considered extremely dangerous by law enforcement.

He escaped the Lamar County jail, in Vernon, about 8 PM on Tuesday night.

Duncan was last seen wearing black shorts and a black long sleeve shirt.

Information was not released about how Duncan escaped.

Sheriff Hal Allred says Duncan was in jail on two counts of sodomy, one count of rape, and one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Duncan is described as a white male, about 6′ 2″, and weighs just over 200 pounds.

He has brown hair and blue eyes.
