Video: Woman Found Guilty, Sentenced to 40 Years

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County jury deliberates about two hours before finding a woman guilty of second degree murder.
Judge Jim Kitchens sentenced 30-year-old Chaddy Brooks to 40 years in prison for the November 2013 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Danielle Gore at an apartment they shared in Cypress Park on South Lehmberg Road.
The verdict came after a three-day trial.
She’d originally been charged with first-degree murder which carries a life sentence. The jury opted for the reduced charge, which carried 20 to 40 years.
Brooks had argued she accidently stabbed the 37-year-old Gore once in the neck with a kitchen knife during a domestic dispute.
According to authorities, Brooks allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Danielle Gore, 37, in the neck with a kitchen knife.
Brooks called 911 after the stabbing.
The couple has five children. Two of them were in the apartment when the incident occurred.
