STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-
The Maroon Volunteer Center at Mississippi State is at it again with their annual “Service DAWG Day”.
Service DAWG Day is a day of service that engages 500 MSU students, faculty, and staff in more than 35 service projects throughout Starkville.
One of the groups participating was Girl Scouts of America who received help putting up posters around downtown to encourage sign ups for their group.
Caroline Skelton who is the Director for the Girl Scouts of America in Starkville says this is a great way for students to become familiar with the Starkville area.
“The importance of the event is to familiarize themselves with Starkville and the community and also to get involved with community organizations and be introduced top the maroon volunteer center… they have lots of organizations that have joined us today for this great event.” said Skelton.
The volunteers worked for three hours and were treated to lunch and refreshments afterwards.
