Video: 47th Annual Watermelon Carnival Bringing Them Home to Water Valley
WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WCBI) -It’s the perfect pick me up for a hot Summer weekend, a big slice of watermelon. How about a few thousand?
Water Valley is expecting about 20,000 visitors for the 47th Annual Watermelon Carnival.
The two day festival features a lot more than melons.
There’s a 3K run and walk, Bar B Que Contest, Live Music, games, and of course, the largest watermelon contest, and introduction of the Watermelon Queen.
“It’s a big reunion time for all the residents; not only for the ones here currently, but for years and years past. Everybody that’s moved off comes home every time, each year, and has a great time just celebratin’, coming together, and having a lot of fun”
Friday’s festivities include a street dance and fireworks show.
The watermelon Carnival continues through Saturday.
