Clay County Deputies Make Spice Arrests
WEST POINT, Miss. (Press Release) – Christopher Bell, age 25, of West Point was arrested and charged with Sale of Cocaine and Possession of Synthetic Marijuana on April 15th by the Clay County Sheriff Department Investigators and assisted by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. He remains incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center pending Circuit Court action.
Clay County Sheriff Department Investigators also arrested Tigee Jones, age 25, of West Point with possession of contraband in a correctional facility. Jones is currently out on a $5,000.00 justice court bond.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott stated that Jones attempted to smuggle in illegal narcotics (including Spice) and contraband into the jail population. Jones is currently out on a $5,000.00 justice court bond.
CCSO Investigators and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics arrested and charged Tyrus Parker, age 30, of West Point with Sale of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine) and Robbery. Parker is currently incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center pending Mississippi Department of Corrections action.
Sheriff Scott stated that the Clay County Sheriff Department and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics continue to battle the influx of Synthetic Marijuana to the Clay County area. Scott said that law enforcement officers have seen a rise in the number of 911 calls that involve individuals that are combative, disoriented or in need of immediate medical attention due to the use of Synthetic Marijuana (Spice).
CCSO Investigators have charged Raymond Bonner, age 33, of Moreno Valley, California with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer. Sheriff Scott said the incident arose from an arrest from CCSO Deputies on misdemeanor charges. The altercation occurred at the Detention Center and a deputy sheriff was bitten on the arm by Bonner. The deputy required medical attention and released back on duty. Bonner is currently incarcerated the Clay County Detention Center. Bonner remains incarcerated at the Clay County Detention Center with a $10,000.00 bond.
