Video: MUW Hosts Culinary Camp…For Teachers
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Students aren’t the only ones who need a little help preparing for the school year.
30 teachers from across the country are using the kitchen as a classroom,
Mississippi University for Women is hosting the ProStart Institute for culinary educators.
ProStart is a two-year career-readiness program for high school students interested in the restaurant business.
Participants are learning cutting-edge skills that they can take back to the classroom.
“The first few weeks of school the kids are nervous they don’t know anybody and that’s how we feel here. We don’t know anyone and we have to figure out who likes to do what, and that’s how our kids feel.”
“We are bringing all the core subjects together and that’s what culinary is about and we are teaching them how to be job ready.”
The W hosts a second session July 25th-29th.
