Video: Starkville Police Department Bid Process Back to “Square One”

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) -The Starkville Police Department will be waiting a little longer to move into a permanent home.

Bids to renovate the Starkville Police Department are coming in well over budget.

Aldermen have allotted $5.4 million to turn the old city hall into the new SPD headquarters.

The lowest bid came in at $6.31 million. A second bid was opened at $7.21 million.

The renovation involves demolition, new windows and roof, new electrical and plumbing work,and the addition of administrative and operations spaces.

Now Aldermen must vote to re-advertise.

The city must approve the re-bid. It will then be advertised later this month, with a possible bid being selected in August.

The department has relocated to temporary offices around the city.
