Comedy for a Cause
ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Single parent homes are more common now than ever before. The howard Foundation is a non profit organization that is trying to provide resources for single parent homes in Aberdeen and other Monroe communities. Saturday night they are hosting an event called “Comedy for Cause”.
“Comedy for a Cause” was Saturday night at 7pm at Aberdeen High School, featuring famous Comedian J. Anthony Brown.
Mr. Brown is known for playing roles in TV shows like “Moesha” and Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” and in Movies like “Madea goes to Jail.”
The Howard foundation is trying to raise funds to help local children from single-parent families. The organization first began by Marlese Howard a former candidate Mayor for the city of Aberdeen. One volunteer says, during the campaign is when they began to see a need.
“During the campaign we just kind of thought about some other things and by talking to people have in Aberdeen and actually other city officials and managers in other towns we saw a need that really wasn’t being met in the area; which was single parents and children resources. So we were lead regardless what happened in the election to start this foundation,” says Justin Crosby.
“We hope that everyone comes out and has a great time. We have got six great comedians along with Mr. Brown heading lining. We also got a great young talent from this area Mr. Anbrose Gardner whose a aspiring singer song writer producer. As well as just hopefully everyone having a good time,” says Crosby.
Tickets were $30. And all the proceeds go towards cause.
