UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -The manhunt is over for an Ecru fugitive, who Union County deputies say ran from a check point less than 24 hours ago.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards said Donovan Lipich, 44, sped away while deputies and state troopers were running his information at checkpoint about 11 P.M. on Tuesday.

Lipich is ditched his vehicle in a field and then took off running in the area of County Road 108, just off Highway 15.

Law enforcement spent Wednesday looking for him.

Lipich is charged with felony fleeing after his capture on County Road 107 on Wednesday about 7 P.M.

Edwards said Lipich could face a federal charge for crossing state lines and failing to register as a sex offender. Lipich was convicted in Missouri. Edwards says investigators believe Lipich had been living in the Pontotoc County community of Ecru.

Lipich was also wanted on several charges in Missouri.
