ICC Leads Nation in NJCAA Academic Honors
FULTON, Miss. (WCBI/LetsGoICC.com) – A nation-leading 60 Itawamba Community College student-athletes were honored when the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the recipients of the 2015-16 NJCAA Student-Athlete Academic Awards.
The NJCAA distinguishes each student-athlete that earns at least a 3.60 grade point average (GPA) with a minimum of 24 semester credit hours by placing them in three categories. The Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence is awarded to individuals who achieve a 4.00 GPA while the Superior Academic Achievement Award is given to student-athletes with a 3.80 to 3.99 GPA with the Exemplary Academic Award going to players with a 3.60 to 3.79 GPA.
Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence recipients:
Baseball: Ben Seay (Mooreville) and Ty Wheeler (Tupelo). Women’s Basketball: Grace Elliot (New Site), Juilanna Garner (New Albany), Sarah Garvin (Hamilton) and Marlee Hatcher (Pontotoc). Men’s Soccer: Sam Dexter (Tupelo) and Bryce Hunt (Tupelo). Women’s Soccer: Hope Burton (Caledonia), Emily Buster (Prattville, AL), Karlee Grisham (Pontotoc), Noa Hardin (Starkville), Kate Hester (Pontotoc), Kelsy McKnatt (Fulton) and Shannon Sullivan (Fulton). Softball: Bre Harford (Southaven), Cassidy Hardy (Gordo, AL), Addie Thompson (Hamilton), Taylor Thornton (Carrollton) and Grayson Wells (Greenwood). Women’s Tennis: Kacey Byrd (Mooreville), Jordan Roberts (Shannon) and Madison Scott (Mooreville).
Superior Academic Achievement Award recipients:
Men’s Basketball: Ron Davis (Edwards) and Cody North (Tremont). Football: Matthew Stewart (Kossuth). Golf: Andrew McDonald (Fulton). Men’s Soccer: Boston Hampton (Tupelo), Blake Lashlee (Olive Branch), Sabi Malli (Tupelo) and Cameron O’Daniel (Tupelo). Women’s Soccer: Madison Parham (Mooreville), Alyssa Stanford (Tupelo) and Rachel Stukenborg (Long Beach). Softball: Maura Jane Autry (Holly Springs), Alex Brown (Pontotoc), Taylor Cresap (Fulton), Lane Kennedy (Smithville), Bree Thompson (Water Valley) and Sheneria Tyes (Baldwyn). Women’s Tennis: Andria Barnes (Mooreville).
Exemplary Academic Achievement Award recipients:
