MACON, Miss. (WCBI)- Gun shots rang out early this morning in a Macon neighborhood, leaving two homes riddled with bullets. The families inside are safe but police are still looking for the shooter.
A drive-by shooting in the small town of Macon is rare but now police say they have an idea who destroyed one family’s property and put their lives at risk.
“I got a call from my parents saying their cars and their house had been shot up,” says Willie Spann, Jr., who’s parents’ home was the target of the shooting.
Willie Spann Jr. hurried to his parents home on Green Street after someone drove by and shot several rounds at their home in the middle of the night. His sister lives next door and her mobile home was also targeted.
“The neighbors called the police at about 2am in the morning. They reported that they saw something going on and gunshots,” says Spann, Jr..
Macon Police Chief Lucious Mason says though no arrests have been made, they have some clue as to who may be responsible for the shooting.
“A couple of cars, two cars and two residents had been hit with bullets. We do have a person of interest that we’re looking for right now that we need to talk to,” says Chief Lucious Mason, of the Macon Police Department.
Spann says he grew up on Green Street and drive-by shootings just don’t happen there.
“Not a shooting, not shooting up somebody’s house and cars. No, I can’t remember it,” says Spann Jr.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined and the case is still under investigation.
