Mississippi attorney handed out treats and advice for Halloween

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi attorney is handing out a few treats while trying to make Halloween a little less scary for kids and their parents.

Representatives from Richard Schwartz and Associates teamed up today with McGruff the Crime Dog to talk Halloween safety with students at West Lowndes Elementary School.

Richard Schwartz’s office travels to schools across the state every year in October to promote a safe but fun approach to the holiday.

“The statistics show that Halloween is the deadliest holiday of the year for children between the ages of 1-18, so we want to spread the message of safety across the state to all of them just to be safe, travel with a buddy or a family member, to use a flashlight, don’t cross in the middle of the street, so they can have the best holiday ever,” said Patrick Wooten, Schwartz and Associates.

The kids also got new Halloween bags for Trick or Treating.
