Video: Former City Employee Suing Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Columbus deputy Municipal Court Clerk is suing the city. Virginia Watt was fired in June 2013 five months after she was arrested on drug charges by Lowndes County Deputies .

Those charges were later dismissed but Watt did not get her job back.

Her federal lawsuit says she was terminated without a good cause hearing and because she was a black female.

She says the incident has ruined her good name and prevented her from getting adequate employment. Watt is seeking her job back, actual damages for lost wages and attorney costs.
