STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – In the event of an emergency, saving lives is always the top priority. Now an innovative company is giving first responders another tool to help pets survive as well.
Invisible Fence of Mississippi has designed an oxygen mask for pets to be used by fire fighters during a rescue. The masks are available in different sizes and operate the same as masks used for people. Local Firefighters say in the past, they’ve had to create masks to fit pets and that can be time consuming during an emergency. Owner Glynn Hannah says the masks have helped save thousands of pets around the country each year.
“A lot of houses now have inside pets unlike years ago and their part of the family now. Firefighters and fire people are out trying to help the pets with whatever they have at their disposal at that time. Well this is going to make it easier,” says Hannah.
Oktibbeha County will have the masks at all seven of their fire stations. Invisible Fence also provides training for pet owners who customize their homes for pet safety with the company.
