Video: Oktibbeha County Drawing up Blueprint for Future Development
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – If you want to build a home in Oktibbeha County, you will need a permit.
Oktibbeha County supervisors voted Monday to approve a site development permit.
The permit will be required in order to build single family homes, multi-family units, commercial and retail buildings, churches, schools and industrial projects.
Recent growth of apartment complexes in the county and proposed industrial sites have helped shape the new guidelines.
Builders must show right of way and even traffic studies for larger projects.
Supervisors also want to make sure building sites are not located within flood plains. The permit requires proof of drinkable water, sewage disposal and storm water pollution control.
A notice to potential builders will be published in local media outlets for three weeks. The new guidelines will go into effect 30 days after that.
