Family Of Man Shot By Monroe Deputy Files Suit
ABERDEEN (WCBI)- The family of a Monroe County man killed by Monroe County deputies during a raid of his home is suing Monroe County and a former Monroe County Deputy.
57 year old Ricky Keeton died when officers raided his trailer in October 2015.. The suit claims former Deputy Eric Sloan and others raided the home based on inaccurate information to obtain a search warrant. The suit filed by Keetons heirs says Narcotics Investigator Sloan orchestrated the raid in order to steal 20 thousand dollars he thought Keeton was keeping in the home. The suit also claims at least one of the deputies in the raid had been drinking before officers entered the home. The suit does not seek a specific amount of money. Sheriff Cecil Cantrell stands by the raid saying Keeton was a well known drug dealer and that a Mississippi Bureau of Investigation look at the shooting cleared his department.
