Video: Aberdeen Police Chief Clears the Air on Jones Murder Case
ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – Aberdeen’s Police Chief says the Ronele Jones murder investigation is far from over.
Jermaine Elliot is charged with second degree murder.
Jones was in an argument with a former girlfriend at a home on March second.
Elliot claims he came to the scene to try to defend the woman.
That’s when Jones and Elliot began to fight and a gun went off– Jones was shot in the neck.
Chief Henry Randle says no evidence was presented at the preliminary hearing earlier this week, because it’s still being tested at the state crime lab.
Randle says he wants to set the record straight–saying the justice system has to play out first before any charges are dismissed.
“We don’t want to misinform the citizens of Aberdeen that we have dropped the ball or there was not enough evidence during the preliminary hearing the evidence was never presented”
Elliot is out on a $250,000.00 bond. As soon as the crime lab results are in, the case can be presented to the next grand jury.
