Video: City Engineer Gives Update on Amphitheater

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus business and community leaders get an update on the city’s planned entertainment venue.

City Engineer Kevin Stafford briefed the Exchange Club on the amphitheater taking shape on the island.

The city is opening the bidding process this month.

Some areas had to be scaled back due to money concerns, but planners are working out the kinks.

“The discussion right now is to shuttle people over of course. There are opportunities to walk if someone chooses to do that, and, obviously other parking opportunities on the island, but those are all private venues right now. We are looking and discussing doing some kind of public parking on that side of the Island, but that has not come to fruition just yet.”

The City hopes to bid the project out by Mid-July, and have the project complete by next Spring.
