Family Grieving Tragic Death Of 8 Year Old Struck And Killed On Busy Stretch Of Highway
LEE CO. MISS. (WCBI) – A Lee County family is mourning the death of their 8 year old grandson, who was struck and killed by a car Thursday afternoon.
Family members say 8 year old Adam Roberts was crossing a section of Highway 245, near his grandparents house, when he was struck by a car.
Roberts died a short time later and now his grandparents and other family members are preparing to bury the eight year old who was a student at Shannon Primary School.
Also, family members say that stretch of road, in front of the grandparents house, where Adam lived, is very dangerous.
“There’s a lot of people speeding through here, and passing each other without being very cautious at all, the speeding is definitely an issue and I know there used to be roadblocks set up at this corner and there’s not anymore,” said Billie Fitts, one of Adam’s relatives.
Funeral services are set for Saturday at 1 at Pegues in Tupelo.
There will be a prayer vigil Friday night at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shannon.
