Video: New Albany Police Round Up Variety Of Suspects After April Grand Jury
NEW ALBANY, MISS. (WCBI) – Twenty six people have been rounded up in New Albany on charges ranging from the sale of drugs to child endangerment.
The string of arrests came after the Grand Jury handed down indictments last month.
New Albany police hit the streets, picking up the suspects over a period of several weeks, instead of a daylong blitz like previous years.
Chief Chris Robertson says most of the Grand Jury indictments were drug related.
“It affects all aspects of the community, you know, people, school system, affects everything. It’s important for every law enforcement agency to do their part and fighting drugs in their own jurisdiction, but it’s one of our major operations, we work it very hard,” Chief Robertson said.
Chief Robertson points out that many of the suspects are repeat offenders.
