TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -There are no snow days for first responders.Tupelo Fire fighters know that all too well.Firemen take extra preparations to deal with slick roads by putting tire chains on some some of the trucks, to help response times. One veteran firefighter says he would rather deal with cold weather, instead of the brutal temperatures of a Mississippi summer.
“This time of year here, because it is , with that gear on, it is so hot with that gear on and summertime, it really drains you, your energy a lot quicker.”
Each shift works 24 hours, then have the next 48 off.
