Appeals Court Affirms 60 Year Sentence
OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. — An Oktibehha County man convicted to cocaine trafficking could spend the rest of his life in prison.
The state Court of Appeals today rejected Dexter Campbell’s claims that an Oktibbeha County Circuit Court jury wrongfully convicted him last year of possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute.
The 50-year-old Campbell was sentenced to 60 years in prison as a habitual offender which means he’s not eligible for early release. He had prior drug convictions a decade earlier.
His current release date is scheduled for the year 20-70.
