NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) — Two Nettleton educators face charges in two separate cases.

In the first case, 50-year-old Jeff King is charged with simple assault for allegedly assaulting a special needs student.

King has stepped down from his post with the district.

In the second case, 43-year-old Paul Whitaker is charged with two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes.

Formal charges were filed against the two men following a Wednesday probable cause hearing.

Those are held when an educator is accused of a crime to determine if formal charges should be filed.
